Ladies Football Notes
The Junior B's lined out in their second round of championship away to Boherlahann. The game started off with Thurles in the driving seat for the first 10 minutes, however, though their efforts continued to the end of the first half, it was Boherlahann that took full advantage of the opportunities given to them, and were ahead at half time at 1 - 04 to 0 - 02. Boherlahann started off the second half just as they finished the first, in scoring form. They scored three points that went unanswered. It was the Sars ladies that were trailing but they did not let this effect them. Sars began to battle back and started to put some valuable points on the board. There were some crucial goals scored by Niamh McGrath and Aoife Hickey, which was the turning point in the game. Sars began to dominate, however, the combination of the wides in the first half and those of the second half meant that Sars could only manage a draw. The final score read 2 -08 to Boherlahann and 3 - 05 to Thurles Sars. This result is not to go unrecognised, as it was the valiant effort by all players on the Sars team that kept them in the game. Welldone to all the playersand management involved.
The second round of the blitz took place last Thursday in Littleton. In the first match against Moycarkey, Thurles did not start well but they came good in the second half. Unfortunately they could not catch the hosts and were beaten by 5 points. In the second match against Cappawhite, they were much more focussed and eventually won by 3.05 to 1.03. Well played to all the girls.
Next week's blitz is currently being organised and all players will be texted if it is going ahead. Training for all will take place on Friday at 6.00pm in the Railway Field. The Championship will be starting at the end of August so it is important that all players attend
