Sars 4-8 Cappawhite 2-3
On Friday night last we travelled to cappawhite to play the first round of the minor championship. in a tight first half we were unlucky to come in 4 points down. this was due mainly to some poor shooting and tough defence by the cappa team. In the second half we played much more direct and punished any mistakes by cappa and ran out deserved winners. no fixtures at going to press but the team will be out again this coming weekend.
TEAM: Beatrice Canovas, Michelle Donnelly, Emma Forrestal, Emma Butler, Megan O'Sillivan, Deb Fogarty, Siobhan Mulomby, Mary-Kate Bourke(capt), Stephanie Steiger, Paula Coffey, Aoife Hickey, Ayla Dee, Tessa O'Gorman, Ciara O'Dwyer, Georgia Dunne, Enya Bourke.
On the 18th Sept, our under 14's lined out at home to Mullinahone. It was a hard fought battle, with the right result in the end. Sars started off dominating the play, however they failed to capitalise on all their possession. Credit must be given to Mullinahone's goalie, who pulled off some magnificent saves, despite her lack of height. Mullinahone took their scores with the opportunities they were given. Despite Sars leading the first half, it was their missed chances that allowed Mullinahone to get back into the game. Mullinahone began to dominate, but Sars didn't leave this distract them. Sars begaan to make their come back and buried a few goals which brought them back into contention. Sars then began to pull away, but only just in time, as the fina whistle blew the score stayed at 5 -03 to Thurles Sars to 3 -05 to Mullinahone.
On the 25th Sept Sars travelled to Aherlow. Even though we knew that this was not a straight forward challenge, we were not going to underestimate he opposition. Sars started off well by dominating the mid field and bringing alot of ball into the forwards. However, we were unable to get the scores on the board. That's when Aherlow pushed forwards and got three fast goals. Though Sars kept with Aherlow through out the game and with possession, they were unable to take the scores when they really needed them. Jane Ann McKevitt got one of Sars ony scores y scoring a great goal. Sars were unable to put any dent on Aherlow's lead. the game finished at 4 - 08 to 1 -02.
